Visual and printed materials related to works created by David A. Root and design projects generated by his company, including black-and-white and color transparencies, negatives, slides, contact sheets, and photographic prints. Collection includes images of Chicago buildings, cityscapes, interior building views, landmarks, architectural models and architectural drawings, real estate projects, Lincoln Park neighborhood, Illinois Center, the 1974 Flower and Garden show at McCormick Place, and "Urban Park: Ideas about Planning," a 1965 final report documenting a student project at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Biographical/Historical Note +/-

David A. Root (d. 1995), born in St. Paul Minnesota and a graduate from the Illinois Institute of Technology. David A. Root and business associates of Root's graphic design office were located at 920 N. Michigan Avenue in Chicago. Root worked throughout Chicago for over thirty years.
