Black-and-white nitrate negatives related to Pullman railroad car manufacturing in Chicago and the Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Company. Images include exterior views of the Calumet shops, a dispensary, the Pullman Manual Training School, and residences in Pullman village; interior views of a storeroom; and portraits of workers.
Biographical/Historical Note +/-
The Pullman Car Company, founded by George Pullman, manufactured railroad cars in the mid-to-late 19th century through the early decades of the 20th century, during the boom of railroads in the United States. The company purchased the Standard Steel Car Company in 1930 and the merged entity was renamed the Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Company.
