Pierre Cardin, Paris; Made in France; Blum's-Vogue, Chicago
Worn by donor, née Eloise Wright (b. October 28, 1914; m. May 4, 1940).
This dress is a rare example of Pierre Cardin's early work from the 1950s. As a young designer, Cardin worked for Cristóbal Balenciaga, who left a lasting impact on his work. Later, in the late 1950s and 1960s, Cardin was one of the first designers to produce clothing influenced by the Space Age.
