Physical Description | Dress of black silk with pink and green accents. Fitted bodice (a) with small standing collar; long leg-o-mutton sleeves. Black boned silk satin stomacher trimmed with green and pink ribbons, as well as jet beading. Center front hook-and-eye closure; stomacher fastens at proper left side seam. Straight, floor-length skirt; hook-and-eye closures at center back. Matching skirt (b). |

Curatorial Statement | Palmer commissioned this two-piece ensemble from the couture house of Robina in 1892. That same year, Ladies Home Journal made the following fashion prediction: "Everything this season must be trimmed with lace, ribbon, and jet to give it the desired stylish air...every tint of green, from light Nile to the moss shade, is fancied in Paris." |
