Printemps - Ete 1957/Christian Dior Paris/Made in France/85839; 85839 Marshall Field Baccara
Worn by Mrs. Albert H. Newman.
This form-fitting sheath with bustle is from Christian Dior's second-to-last collection. A handwritten label inside the dress states that the piece was made for Marshall Field. The dress also appeared in a Chicago Daily News ad that proclaimed, "Dior Dominates Collection at Field's." Muriel Newman later purchased the sheath and donated it to the Museum in 1978.
