Dress (a), evening-style, of gray silk chiffon. Rhinestone and glass beads embroidery on waist from front to back. Hem falls to just above the ankle in front and to the floor at sides and back. Train (b), self-fabric, attaches to dress at back of shoulders, shape deep V at the back of the dress. Rhinestone trim at edges; rhinestone and bead motif at hem. Slip (c) of gray silk crepe. Curatorial Statement
Mrs. Palmer II wore this dress when she was presented to the King and Queen of England in 1938. Court rules dictated every detail of the dress, including length of skirt, choice of colors, and style of embroidery.
