Printemps - Hiver 1955/Christian Dior Paris/Made in France/76481
Worn by Mrs. Howard Linn, née Lucy McCormick Blair.
The two shoulder straps form the top of the letter Y in this dress from Dior's 1955 autumn collection. Pleats at the center back fall into an unusual sweeping train held up by many layers of soft, pleated tulle, all stitched to a thin, torso-high girdle. Snags in the fabric where the shoulder straps cross on the front of the dress show signs that a brooch probably was worn with it.
