Crazy quilt of multi colored silk and brocade highly embroidered on patch edges and on individual solid pieces. Edged in red and maroon silk cord with two silk tassels at each corner. Backed with maroon machine quilted satin. Includes traditional squares along with non-traditional design motifs.
This quilt of multicolored silk and brocade was made by Mrs. Zachary Chandler in the early to mid-1850s. Despite its "crazy" nature, this quilt is highly symmetrical and each piece is almost a perfect square. This quilt exhibits luxury not only on the quilt top but in its rich red satin backing.
