Women's coat; of white, light brown and dark brown spotted lynx fur: large standing collar, notched lapel; long sleeves; buttons down center front; pockets at hip level; mid-calf length; fully lined in light brown silk.
The N. H. Rosenthal Furs opened on State Street in 1921 but moved to North Michigan Avenue in 1953. Marvin Welfeld acquired this lynx coat at the Rosenthal salon for his wife in 1969. The accompanying hat was selected separately at Bramson, a specialty store also located on Michigan Avenue. The donor wore this ensemble, paired with alligator shoes and purse, to the Lyric Opera's Annual Meeting Dinner in 1969.
