RICHARD A. CHASE
Showing the elevated structure where it makes the turn west. View from street level, including trucks and pedestrians, long yellow building at left.
Chicago painter and booster Richard A. Chase was a prominent muralist in Chicago in the 1930s. In watercolors and oils, Chase documented and glorified the construction of the city, from the bright-orange steel bridges of Lake Shore Drive and the rough unfinished power of the "L" to the majesty of the Merchandise Mart and the gleaming polish of the Palmolive Building.
