The painting originally hung in Chapin & Gore's Saloon and Restaurant, old Chicago landmark, when it was located at 73-75 (now 20-22) West Monroe Street, Chicago, Illinois.
Caricature of Charles Albert Comiskey 1859-1931 in White Sox base ball uniform. Baseball stand in background with pennant "WORLD'S CHAMPIONS".
In 1906, the White Sox and the Cubs competed in the first and only all-Chicago World Series. Despite being nicknamed the "hitless wonders" the Sox took the championship from their cross-town rivals in Game 6. Painted the same year as the series, Schmedtgen portrayed Sox owner Charles Comiskey in uniform.
