Early in the Civil War, Richmond women made a Confederate flag of paper roses to support the Confederate war effort.
Young ladies in Richmond used more than 200 handmade paper roses to construct this version of the Confederate national flag. Each of the eight stars represents a Confederate state that had seceded by the end of April 1861, including Virginia.
