This billiard ball was damaged in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
Small items like this billiard ball were left scattered on the streets of Chicago as residents fled the city during the Great Fire of 1871. The fire burned for 36 hours on October 8th and 9th, destroyed three and a half square miles of city, and killed at least 300. As residents began to clean up and rebuild the city, they collected small Objects mementos of the destruction.
