Worn by donor, née Barbara Davis, on the occasion of her marriage to Mr. Thomas F. Frey on December 2, 1972. The dress was purchased in November, 1972 at the Miss Dior boutique in Paris, France.
Although the mini skirt is a well known part of today's fashion, it was not until the mid-1960s that it first came into fashion. Some credit British designer Mary Quant with the style, others say it was French designer Andr Courrges. Most agree that the length of a mini skirt is to be no longer than four inches below the buttocks and that the style came out of a youth-obsessed culture.
