Explore the Museum’s vast and diverse collection of prints and photographic materials. Dating from the late 18th century to the present, this material comprises the single largest source of pictorial information for the Chicago metropolitan area. The selection of images available here documents spectacular and everyday moments in the history of the city and the nation and represents a broad range of historical and contemporary visual media. They include etchings, engravings, and lithographs, cabinet cards, cartes de visite, cased images, stereo cards, glass plate and film-based negatives, photographic prints, broadsides, and posters.
