| Description | Dress of dark gray wool. Jewel neckline with bow at center front. Short sleeves. Center front button closure. Additional bow at center front waist. A-line skirt with inverted pleating at hips. Slash pockets on side seams. Third bow at center front thigh. Falls just below the knee. Underskirt of black tulle. |

| Curatorial Statement | This dress is from Yves Saint Laurent's historic first collection for the House of Christian Dior in 1958. The Trapèze was introduced with this collection, though the entire collection did not adhere to the new A-line silhouette. It is interesting to note that this dress still clings to the New Look silhouette of 1947. |
