Curatorial Statement
This gown was purchased at a dressmaker's shop at 63rd Street and St. Louis Avenue in Chicago for $75. Originally worn in 1941, the dress was worn again by the couple's daughter in 1973. Although the dress remains in good condition, the original seams around the waist were taken apart and re-sewn to a smaller size, while the zipper was relocated from the side seam to the center back neck.
