| Object History | Worn by Mrs. Bertha Honoré Palmer. |
| Curatorial Statement | Although records show that Mrs. Palmer purchased clothing from Paris, London, New York, and Chicago, she favored Parisian design. Her custom-made gowns required numerous fittings, often in Paris, and an incredible amount of money. Through Parisian haute couture, Bertha Palmer had access to the best dressmakers and textile manufacturers in the world. She also had the ability to control specific details related to the fabric selection and construction of each item specific to her needs. |
