| Object History | Worn by Mrs. Bertha Honoré Palmer. Mrs. Palmer commissioned this dress from the House of Weeks (Paris) in 1911 to wear to the coronation of King George V in London. The embroidery down the center front is very similar to the embroidery on the dress that Queen Mary wore to the same event. |
| Curatorial Statement | At the time of its donation to the museum, this gown was dated around 1910. Since then, researchers have discovered that Mrs. Palmer attended the coronation ceremonies of King George V in an "embroidered gown of white satin with square train" possibly this very gown. |
