| Description | Wrapper of pink purple silk taffeta. Fabric features a hydrangea blossom floral chine pattern in shades of purple and green. High neck trimmed with lace; white silk satin tie with long tails. Self-fabric yoke with shirring; yoke fabric creates slight puff at shoulders. Voluminous sleeves; Watteau back. Bottom third of skirt has a pleated flounce. |

| Curatorial Statement | This style of gown is often referred to as a wrapper or a dressing gown and is the predecessor of the modern-day housecoat. One of many items Palmer commissioned from the House of Worth for the Paris Exposition of 1900, the exquisite silk taffeta has a floral chine pattern, which is created by dyeing the threads before they are woven into the fabric. |
