| Object History | Worn by Mrs. Charles B. Goodspeed, née Elizabeth Barrett Fuller (1893-1980). |
| Curatorial Statement | Believing that fashion was an art, Elsa Sciaparelli often collaborated with artists, such as Jean Cocteau, who created the witty design on this jacket (Cocteau's embroidered signature can be seen on its hem). This is one of the most significant pieces of fashion history in the museum's collection and is extremely rare: only three examples are known to exist. |
